Whether it is getting fired from a show on the Disney channel, being charged with criminal trespassing or having his mansion raided by the FBI, it seems like Jake Paul is always in the news for something. Despite his slew of scandals, however, he remains a top YouTuber who makes copious amounts of money by just being on YouTube.

Along with his brother Logan Paul (who has had a fair share of scandals himself), they are some of the most famous (and scandalous!)  YouTubers out there.

With all the scandals and controversies surrounding the Paul brothers, you may be wonderingโ€”how much money does Jake Paul make? This includes looking into things Jake is doing outside of YouTube, like endorsement deals. There is a lot of speculation about his net worth, ranging from $11 million to as much as $17 million. Of course, it is difficult to give a straight answer to this, because his numerous scandals would have harmed his earning potential.

Despite his fame and millions of followers on various social media platforms, Jake remains quite the multitasker. In addition to vlogging, he juggles an acting career as well as entrepreneurial pursuits like creating his own talent agency.

Jake Paulโ€™s Early Life

Born on January 17, 1997 in Cleveland, Ohio, Jake spent much of his childhood in Ohio along with his brother Logan. For him and Logan, their passion for videography started quite early when their dad bought them a video camera to record their football games when they were just 10.

The brothers grew up in Westlake, Ohio attending Westlake High School in Ohio. There, the brothers had an early interest in sports such as football and wrestling. Jake was quite enthusiastic about wrestling, joining his high school wrestling team in his sophomore year. While he was focusing on his wrestling career, his interest for videography waned a little until 2011.

When it came to graduate from high school, Jake decided to finish his last year of high school online. He decided to join his brother and move to Los Angeles and pursue his lucrative social media career. They were quite ambitious despite their YouTube fame, taking acting classes and making useful connections along the way.

YouTube Beginnings

Similar to most other famous fellow YouTubers like David Dobrik and Liza Koshy, the Paul brothers started off as Vine stars. Vine was a video sharing app that launched in 2012, allowing users to upload 6 second videos and the ability to follow other users.

Some users like Liza Koshy and the Paul brothers amassed millions of followers on the app before the app was discontinued. They then carried over their fame onto YouTube, which was how their YouTube channels blew up.

The Paul brothers realized that the video camera their dad gifted them allowed them to do more than recording football games to improve themselves. They also enjoyed recording themselves doing regular everyday activities. Their loud, funny personalities made for some fun, relatable content for their young audience.

He was so interested in video content creation that he got on Vine on the first day it launched in 2012. He gained millions of followers on the app and successfully carried over his notoriety onto other social media platforms like YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. As of September 2020, he currently has over 20 million subscribers on YouTube and 13.4 million Instagram followers.

Amateur Boxing

Whatever you think about Jake Paulโ€™s boisterous antics and larger-than-life attitude, some would consider him to be a professional boxer now.

His transition from YouTuber to boxer began with his first amateur bout against fellow YouTuber Deji Olatunji in 2018.  He won this fight by knockout, and won his three following fights against YouTuber AnEsonGib, NBA guard Robinson, and former MMA champion Ben Askren by KO or TKO.

While the first three fights donโ€™t mean much for Paulโ€™s legitimacy as a boxer, his latest win over former MMA champion Ben Askren was a step in the right direction. Now he faces former UFC Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in what should be a more competitive match and a good indicator of whether Paul has a career in boxing.

Controversies

Jakeโ€™s online career has been riddled with controversies from early on, which made him even more popular. His Team 10 house had become such a nuisance with its loud parties and noise that his neighbors threatened to file a class action lawsuit against him. They were also not pleased when he made his house address public. This was also what led to him getting fired from his Disney show.

This was also around the time he was dating his fellow Team 10 protege Alyssa Violet and the two got into a huge feud, after he accused her of cheating on him.

Other controversies came about when he tried to embark on a music career. His music video โ€˜Itโ€™s Everyday Broโ€™ on YouTube has 5 million dislikes. He then used racial slurs on another one of his rap videos.

His controversies continued into 2020, where he vlogged from inside a mall that was being looted amidst the George Floyd protests. He was later charged with criminal trespassing and unlawful assembly for this incident. In July 2020, he also drew criticism for throwing a massive party in his Calabasas home during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Jake Paulโ€™s Net Worth

Due to his numerous scandals, it is difficult to say with certainty how much Jake Paul makes from external sources like brand deals. However, we can roughly estimate how much he makes off his YouTube channel. His daily averages are in the range ยฃ375-$6K, depending on how much of his controversial content is eligible for monetization.

How much money does Jake Paul make per YouTube video? That depends on the number of views. His most viewed video for Itโ€™s Everday Bro, has over 270 million views, and he is estimated to have made between $80K to $670K for it alone.

According to Forbes, he made a reported $21.5 million in 2018, becoming the second-highest earning YouTuber that year โ€”even beating out his brother Logan. This figure included revenue off his YouTube videos as well as his lucrative merchandise sales.
