The Almohad Caliphate captured Granada in 1172 and used the palace as a royal residence. After the Reconquista of 1492, Queen Isabel I of Castile ordered the destruction of the Muslim palaces and fortifications in Granada. The Alhambra was originally built as a small fortress overlooking Granada on Mount Muley-lidn-Ahmar, also known as “the Eagle’s Peak”. Alhambra’s most famous feature is its Court of Lions, with its distinctive arches and fountain. Other notable features include the Royal Palace, the Hall of Two Sisters, and the Generalife Gardens with their many fountains and pavilions. When you’re finished here, there are also a bunch of other beautiful sites and things to do in Granada.

La Sagrada Familia

La Sagrada Familia is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Barcelona, and it’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The design of the basilica is heavily influenced by Gaudi’s fascination with natural shapes and forms, and as a result, it doesn’t look like any other church in the world. La Sagrada Familia is expected to be completed in 2026 (one hundred years after Gaudi’s death). He intended the church to be a masterpiece that would represent the divine and celebrate humanity. Unfortunately, he did not live to see its completion; he died in 1926 after being struck by a streetcar.
All in all, you should allocate at least two days in Barcelona to visit the historical sites and take plenty of pictures.

Lake Geneva
At over five hundred square kilometers, Lake Geneva is the largest lake in Switzerland and one of the largest in Europe. Its southwestern shoreline lies on the French side of the Jura Mountains, while its northeastern shores are on the Swiss plateau. Matterhorn mountain
Located in the Swiss Alps, the Matterhorn mountain is one of the most iconic and popular mountains in the world. Standing at 4,478 meters (14,692 feet), it is also one of Europe’s tallest peaks. The Matterhorn has four main faces (north, south, east and west) which are each divided into two smaller faces by a horizontal ridge. It is these vertical ridges that give the Matterhorn its characteristic pyramid shape. The north face of the Matterhorn is considered to be one of the biggest challenges for climbers due to its steepness and exposed location. The first successful ascent of the north face was made in 1865 by Britons Edward Whymper and Charles Hudson, along with Swiss guide.

Hagia Sophia
Hagia Sophia is a former Greek Orthodox Christian patriarchal basilica, later an imperial mosque, and now a museum in Istanbul, Turkey. It was the largest cathedral in the world for nearly a thousand years, until the completion of Catedral de Seville in 1520. The building was designed by the Greek architects Isidore of Miletus and Anthemius of Tralles. It was consecrated on December 27, 537 by Patriarch Timothy I of Constantinople. The church contained a large collection of relics and featured, among other things, a great bronze gold-plated door that was made in Constantinople. The relics included pieces of the True Cross and pieces from the bodies of the Twelve Apostles. The building has been modified several times over the centuries, most notably by Sultan Mehmed II who added minarets in 1453 and converted it into a mosque.
